One of the strategic priorities for India is to strengthen its naval defence forces for which various contracts for the supply of defence vessels were drawn up. "Make in India" is the new mantra. The thrust for indigenisation had already been accelerated through contracts like P-75 and P-28 signed between France & India for the construction of six Submarines with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and four Anti- Submarine Corvettes with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) respectively.
When such modernisation and armament projects are initiated by Naval Group, many Indian industrial players get a unique opportunity to participate and contribute towards the development of self-reliance of the naval forces.
